Afternoon Light Gloucester, Massachusetts
Acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, signed in the lower right corner. Hanging hardware is included.
In this painting, I wanted to capture the legendary coastal light of Gloucester, Massachusetts. There is a specific clarity to the afternoon sun on Cape Ann that transforms the local architecture into a play of deep shadows and brilliant highlights. I used my geometric and cubist-inspired style to deconstruct the scene, focusing on the structural beauty of the buildings as they sit against the New England coastline.
My goal was to move beyond a simple landscape and instead convey the feeling of the "Afternoon Light"—the way it carves out shapes and defines the character of the town. By using bold colors and clean, architectural lines, I’ve tried to capture the enduring strength and quiet energy of this historic seaside community. Although the original painting has been sold, I am pleased to offer high-quality prints that bring this unique piece of Massachusetts light into your space.
