Stillness at Dawn
Acrylic on canvas, signed in the lower right corner. Hanging hardware is included.
In this new original art piece, I have captured a serene mountain landscape centered around a quiet mountain lake. My goal was to lead the viewer through the scene, beginning with the prominent shoreline in the foreground. Here, I used a palette of muted greens, pinks, and reds to bring the low-lying vegetation and shrubs to life, following a light, sandy path that leads down to the water's edge.
The heart of the painting is the mountain lake itself. I used strokes of light blue, gray, and white to suggest a calm, rippling surface that reflects the stillness of the air. To the left, I rendered the mountain slopes with bold strokes of dark gray and black to highlight their rugged peaks, while on the right, I added a vibrant pop of color with a tree in bright red blossom.
In the background, distant hills sit under a sky that I transitioned from a clear blue to a warm, hazy yellow and pink at the horizon. I painted this with visible brushstrokes and a simplified perspective to give the work a folk-art quality—a visual diary of my time spent in the great outdoors.
